Hello! It’s been a while since the last blog post, eh? I always found it irritating to find a blog I liked and then eventually the content stops and the author moves onto something else, so heck, sorry for being one of those dudes. Truth is, I’m a sensitive little sausage. I like writing daft stuff (as you can evidently see), but I find when I’m not in the right headspace it’s an impossible task to just get writing, it doesn’t flow and I hate that. I’ve been looking at too much of the news these last few months, and Jesus fuckin’ Christ, it’s taking a mental toll.

I guess it’s probably one of the first times in history where you could actually get eye-witness news instantly, and I’m not sure my brain is geared up to be able to handle it. Add that to the absolute state of politics in this country and what appears to be the normalisation of far-right thinking, and I’m often left feeling a little hopeless of late.

Regardless of that though, life goes on, and I guess the only thing I can do is try and be a positive force in the world wherever I have the capacity to do that. It’s part of why the company does foodbank donations every month – I really believe that if I have the ability to do something decent, then we’re morally obliged to. It’s a fucked-up world and we owe it to our fellow humans to try and make their existence a little easier if we’re able. Anyway, that’s the reason blog posts have been a bit thin on the ground of late, so sorry about that. I’ll try and be more frequent with the posts.

Whatcha been up then, monkey man?

Blimey, I don’t know, really. It’s been ages! Went to Spain for a working trip with the MycoPunks crew, which is always nice. My missus does take the piss out of me a bit though because whenever I go away I always have to take my laptop so that I can work – you don’t get a business to be successful by taking loads of time off, sadly, so I have to carve a bit of time out of every day, no matter where I am! I’m grateful though, I mean, at the end of the day I got to go and have a look at Spain which was beautiful, and that’s not a bad place to do a bit of work. I like Barcelona a lot, and I hope I get to carve out some time to go back there next year.

Also been working on some new products, Florida Wild and Menace are basically ready to go, I’m just waiting on my photo guy to take the glamour shots so I can get the product pages up! Got plenty of prints ready, so watch this space!

I’ve also cranked up production so mostly everything should be in stock all the time. It takes quite a bit of time to produce syringes, mostly due to needing to pressure cook the water (how many pressure cookers do you want to have going at any one time, that’s the bottleneck). We’ve got the flow down pretty well now so we can get them done fairly rapidly, which is useful! Awwwwwww yeah the hoodies are up on the site too, at the ridiculously low price of £40 for the initial batch – I’m actually (100% for real) losing money on these, because I hammered all the quality options. They’re really fuckin’ nice, if I do say so myself. Go and have a look at them! So, if you’re a fan of Orangutan Trading Co (or have someone you like who is), you should buy one. Also, if you for some reason hate me (sorry, I can’t please everyone), you should buy two of them and then you can burn them as some form of dumbshit protest if you like, I won’t judge.

Video Games innit

Yeah I’m still a huge nerd. Currently I’ve been playing a fair bit of Darktide on the Series X. If you’re not up-to-date with what that is, this next sentence will probably make even less sense so sorry about that! It’s basically Left 4 Dead, but set in the Warhammer 40k universe, so it’s all gothed-up and grimdark. I always liked the idea of Warhammer 40k (it’s basically a super-dark sci-fi thing, that’s deliberately being dark as fuck as a sort of parody), but never got into fucking about painting small figurines; nothing against painting figurines, it just never appealed to me. The game, however, I think is ace! You get to chop up loads of stuff, the combat is really satisfying, and I enjoy a four-player horde style FPS. It’s included in Xbox Game Pass, so if you’ve got that, you should give it a go, you’d like it.
