Comes with 10cc of Menace spores, an 18g needle to get your spores onto the slides, and an alcohol wipe so you can ensure that your microscope is super clean.
Christ, Dennis’ path has taken some turns, hasn’t it? I guess now he’s a bit older he got into mycology and isolated his own strain. Doesn’t really mesh with the image of him I’ve got as a kid, always trying to inflict PTSD on his parents, causing ruckus with his dog and pig. What kind of idiot buys a kid that naughty his own pig and allows him to take it wherever he wants? It’s clearly Mr. and Mrs. Menace’s fault. I’m old enough to remember the 1980-1993 version of Dennis the Menace where he actually looks like he’d kick your fucking head in, rather than just play some kind of daft prank on you. Kids these days, they’re spoiled with all their perpetual war, climate change, and pandemics, they don’t know what it was like to read comics about another kid that’d stamp your hands off just for a laugh.
Before I get sued by anyone I will just add that it isn’t really Dennis the Menace who isolated these (just like it wasn’t really Robocop that invented Z-Strain), it was some dude apparently called P. Menace over at the Shroomery! I like to imagine his name stands for Penis Menace and his parents decided to call him something stupid to fuck with him, just for a laugh. Stranger names have happened, there’s a cool Hollywood stuntman that I wanted to name my kid after called Dick Warlock (I obviously wasn’t allowed to do this) so Penis Menace isn’t the maddest thing I’ve ever heard of.
Ideally, keep these Menace spores refrigerated, where they will happily last a couple of years. Magic mushroom spores are tough like that – don’t let them freeze though! Failing that, you can keep them in a nice dark cupboard where they’ll be just fine for at least six months. They’re pretty simple to store. You can even use them multiple times, just replace the needle cap back on (don’t remove the needle as that’s one more chance for contaminants to get in there), and the next time you go to use them, heat the needle up with a lighter until it glows red. Simple! You could even put them back into the supplied bag if that’s your jam.
These Menace spore syringes have been produced in the UK using a flowhood in order to make sure that what you see under the microscope is exactly what’s supposed to be there and nothing else – just premium Menace spores!
Handy dos and don’ts:
DO:
- Keep it somewhere cool and dark, it’ll keep for 6 months+
- Keep it in the fridge maybe, it’ll last for years there
- Enjoy microscopy, it’s a great hobby
- Read/watch a variety of microscopy techniques across sites like Reddit and YouTube, knowledge is power
- Be really clean when you’re handling it, it’s critical
DON’T:
- Drink it. You can, it won’t hurt you, it’s just very expensive pop at that point
- Try and grow anything with it, unless you live somewhere where that is legal
- Store it anywhere dusty, dirty, or hot
- Try and do your microscopy in a drafty, dusty room
