April News Roundup
Hello again! As I stated at the beginning of the year, my goal was to expand Orangutan Trading Co a bit further, getting in even more amazing magic mushroom spores to add to the range, and expanding my work space so I could cope with all of that. That’s exactly what I’ve gone and done, so that’s what I’m going to be talking about in this blog post. If you fancy reading that sort of thing, then you’ve already done the hard work because you’re on the page, so cast your eyes upon this fine assembly of words:
I have got so many magic mushroom spores
It may be something you’d already noticed, but as of today I’ve got 26 different types of spores up on this very website. Obviously there’s all the classics that sell tonnes like your Golden Teachers, B+, or JMF, but now there is also Aztec, Acadian Coast, Pink Buffalo, Mars, and Xico for you to add to the cupboard that you hoard spores in. You can tell they’re new because they haven’t got any reviews yet – what I’m saying is buy some and then I can go back to having everything be nice and uniform on my store page!
It actually takes quite a while to get product pages up, because I have to get goofy Orangutan themed photos sorted, make a bit of art to go with it, and then write five hundred or so words, sort out the SEO, then get it all up on the website. It’s probably a good couple of hours per product, if not a shade more. That’s part of the reason I don’t have more products up. I’ve got tonnes of interesting spore prints but not enough time to get them all listed! With that said, I’ll probably add a few more by the end of the year, keeps things interesting, doesn’t it?
New working space!
This one’s still a work-in-progress but hopefully I will have moved by the start of June (sure as fuck better have because I’ve handed the notice in on my current place haha). This move will allow me to expand my working space by quite a bit, so I’ll be able to get more flowhoods in action at once and more pressure cookers. This will obviously speed things up nicely! The bottleneck at the moment is space and pressure cookers (only so much you can fit in at one time and cooling down the water takes literally all night) so I think this will likely allow me to double capacity without having to do double the work, which is great. Efficiency!
I’ll also be able to store more stock, packaging, and merchandise – including (I promise), hoodies! The hoodies are definitely going to happen this year because my favourite one has just got a hole in the elbow so it’s getting replaced with a sick OTC version, for sure. Maybe beanies for the winter? If anyone knows of anywhere that can print a decently complex logo onto a beanie, let me know!
Been up in Brizzle
I had to go up to Bristol for a few meetings (if you want to expand I figure you have to ‘network’ a bit), and obviously had to go and put my stickers up in a few places like some sort of guerrilla advertiser. Chris from Mycopunks came down too and we had a bit of a night out, some decent food and drink sort of thing. I was up there last year at around the same time, and yeah, Bristol is really cool. We went to this place called The Clockwork Rose which served some absolutely crazy cocktails, it was great! Where I come from is a tiny little Cornish town with very little to do (and zero chance of getting anything other than a Wetherspoon’s pint), so getting to visit somewhere so fuckin’ interesting is always a decent experience. Bristolians: I’m jealous of you!
So that’s about it for this time around, have a nice bank holiday month, and remember, don’t vote Tory!
